Real de Banjul thump Wallidan to maintain league title aspirations

Real de Banjul on Saturday thumped Wallidan 3-1 in their week-five match played at the Live Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori to maintain their 2023-2024 Baluwo sponsored Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division One League title aspirations.

The city boys won their four opening league outings before clashing with the blue boys, who were winless in their four opening league matches.

Real de Banjul knew that a defeat against Wallidan would dash their league title ambitions.

The city boys came all out to snatch the significant three from Wallidan to maintain their league title aspirations.

Real de Banjul dominated Wallidan in the midfield and launched some occasional scoring attempts.

Alasanna Yirajang’s famous hat-trick during the match earned Real de Banjul a resounding 3-1 victory over Wallidan.

Right-back Pedro Jatta’s first half strike only proved to be a consolation goal for Wallidan.

Real de Banjul still sit top-spot on the country’s Elite League table with 15 points after winning their five opening league matches.

Wallidan sit bottom-place on the First Division League table with only 2 points after drawing two matches and losing three.

The blue boys must win their remaining league matches to move away from the relegation zone on the country’s Elite League table.

Meanwhile, Waa Banjul defeated The Gambia Armed Forces 1-0 at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium to clasp their first win in the First Division League.

Brikama United drew goalless with Team Rihno at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum to share the spoils in the First Division League.
