The match was graced by high profile dignitaries including Alieu Sowe, Secretary General of the Gambia Action Party (GAP).
It was an entertaining final as both sides started the game well in the first half.
QPR enjoyed much possession in the first period but could not find the net on numerous occasions as Sanchaba United net-minder stood firm for his side.
Sanchaba United upon resumption of the second half, mounted pressure on QPR but could not break the solid defence line of QPR.
Both sides fought tooth and nail as well as created some goal scoring opportunities but could not penetrate each other’s backline thus the game ended in a stalemate which pushed the game into penalty shootouts, ending 5-4 in favour of QPR.
As winners, QPR went home with a giant trophy and a cash price of D7000, whilst runner-ups, Sanchaba United pocketed home D6000.
Abdoulie Manneh, Sanchaba United head coach, commended his boys for their efforts, saying they were just unfortunate to end up on the losing end.
Musa Jatta, QPR head coach expressed delight over his boys’ performance, saying the final was a test for them as they were preparing for the league final against Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Tujereng Sports Committee has set 15 January 2022 as the date for the league final between QPR and Manchester United.
QPR will be hoping to set a record in Tujereng football when they take on Manchester United in the league final after lifting the knockout trophy.
