Kunting FC have recently clinched the 2024 Sami District Football tournament final.

They defeated Yonna FC 3-2 on post-match penalty shootout following a tricky goalless draw in regulation time.
The final was played at Kunting Community Football Field Sami District, Central River Region.

Both teams played extremely well crafting some good goal scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise on the chances created. Thus the final ended in a stalemate goalless draw.
This pushed the match into post-match penalty shootout which ended 3-2 in favour of Kunting FC.
The district final was graced by high dignitaries including the chief of Sami District Mam Demba Jallow.
"It's an honour for witnessing such a tournament in my district," District Chief Mam Demba Jallow said.

He added that the main aim of organising the tournament was to promote peace and unity among people of the district.

The secretary of the organising committee Kawsu Konateh applauded all the players, officials and the fans for their maturity during the course of the tournament after playing a violence free competition.
As champions Kunting FC were awarded a giant trophy, medals and D10,000 as winners, while Yonna FC received D5,000 as runners-up. The trophy was officially handed over by the Chief Mam Demba Jallow.
