The Bakau-born Red scorpion sensational forward was speaking to The Point Sports shortly after receiving her prestigious award on Saturday 25th November 2023 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo.
“I am very happy for winning the award for the first time and the award means a lot to my career,’’ Kuyateh said.
Kuyateh thanked her coaches, teammates, fans, friends and family.
‘‘I am very happy after winning this year’s award, because many players are looking forward to win the annual award.
“I hope and pray that Allah opens the doors for me to sign a professional contract,’’ Kuyateh said.
Kuyateh thanked the Sports Journalist Association of The Gambia for organising such award ceremony, adding that awarding athletes would take Gambian sports to higher height.
Kumba Kuyateh on Sunday 26th November 2023 dedicated her award to captain Mariama Bojang after Red Scorpion 3-0 win over The Gambia Armed Forces Ladies in their week-two fixture of the 2023-2024 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Women’s League Division played at the Bakau Mini Stadium.
