KMRFA, GFCA coaching course underway

The Kanifing Municipality Regional Football Association (KMRFA) in collaboration with The Gambia Football Coaches Association (GFCA) on Monday kick-start a seven-day D Licence coaching course at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The weeklong course is organised to help equip grass root and KMRFA Third Division league coaches within the Kanifing Municipality.

The opening ceremony was graced by first vice president of Kanifing Municipality Regional Football Association, Mustapha Jammeh, known within the sporting fraternity as Sumba.

He urged participants to take the course seriously as modern football requires a lot of commitment, adding that it is key for one to be equipped one wants to take coaching as carrier.

"You cannot train people as players if you are not au fait with the tactical affairs of the game, and grassroots football is key to football development", he stated.

Thirty-six coaches from academies and third division teams within KM are taking part in the training.

Resource persons for the course are Yaya Manneh, Choro Mbenga and Lamin Sanyang (LS) who are seasonal coaches in The Gambia as well as all obtained high level certificate in coaching.
