Sonkos FC award hardworking players

Sonkos Football Club in Bwiam, West Coast Region over the weekend awarded certificates of recognition to 52 hard working players, members and management of the team as a token of appreciation, dedication and commitment during the Greater Bwiam Tournament held last year.

The award was held at the Foni Dinding Federation Office in Bwiam.

According to officials, the certificates were given to beneficiaries for their extensive participation during the Greater Bwiam Football Tournament which ensured a successful tournament filled with love, unity and memories.

Modou Lamin Badjie, manager, Sonkos FC, thanked players, management and fans for their hard work, dedication and respect during the tournament.

He said the award ceremony truly showcases the dedication and commitment that all players had put into the competition held last year, adding that the young players did well which really made them extremely proud.

Manager Badjie said discipline is an essential foundation for any sport, especially football, adding that it builds footballers character to help them set their mind to achieve great things. Beyond sports, it is also instrumental to succeed in other areas of life, he added.

He said they hope all the players will continue to achieve brilliance in their respective roles in the field.

Badara Sanneh, a co-founder of the team, said football creates friendships between people who would not normally communicate.

He advised players to be united in whatever they do considering the fact that football does not have a language.

Head Coach of Sonkos FC, Modou Badjie, expressed happiness and joy over his team’s victory during the Greater Bwiam Football Tournament, which he described as a dream come true for him.

Coach Badjie assured fans and supporters that his team would do all it could to win more trophies in the future.
