Hagi Drammeh represents Gambia at Wada Annual Global Symposium on Anti-doping

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of The Gambia National Paralympic Committee, (GNPC), Hagie Drammeh, has represented The Gambia National Paralympic Committee at the 2025 Wada annual symposium on anti-doping in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The two-day annual symposium ended yesterday, Wednesday 19th March 2025.

The symposium was attended by nearly 1,000 delegates across global anti-doping community.

The theme for the event was: ‘Going Further Together’.

The symposium featured 15 interactive topics such as partnerships, anti-doping research, whistleblower management and ethical data governance.

Hagi Drammeh represented the President of The Gambia National Paralympic Committee Sulayman Colley.

He participated in the programme and highlighted Gambia's commitment to doping-free sports and athletes well-being.

Speaking to The Point Sports, Hagi Drammeh, underscored the importance of collaboration in anti-doping efforts, adding that clean sport is a shared responsibility.

 “Together we can ensure fairness and integrity for all athletes,” Drammeh said.

Drammeh revealed that delegates were encouraged to engage in discussions on amplifying the athlete voice, addressing contamination issues and develop strategic awareness campaigns for younger athletes.

He further revealed at the symposium the focus on preparing for the 2027 Code, international standards and protection of athletes rights.

President of WADA, Witold Bańka, called for collaboration among anti-doping organisations.

Bańka highlighted challenges faced in 2024 such as contamination and the on-going efforts to update the World Anti-Doping Code.

He stated that the health and well-being of athletes are WADA's top priority.

Bańka called on stakeholders to join and condemn such initiatives.

Meanwhile, Hagi Drammeh's involvement in the symposium reflects Gambia's active role in supporting WADA's mission for doping-free sports environment.
