Gunjur United have moved to fourth-place in the 2023-2024 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division Two League following their hard-fought 2-1 win over Wagadu FC in their week-29 encounter played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on Saturday.

The Coastal Town boys slipped to Wagadu FC 3-0 in the first round of the country’s Second Tier played at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field prior to their crucial clash.

Gunjur United came for revenge against Wagadu FC to increase their hopes of gaining promotion to the First Division League.

After a goalless draw in the first half, Gunjur United scored two goals through right-back Pa Musa Jatta alias Walker and combative midfielder Baboucarr Saidy alias Babou in the second half to snatch a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wagadu FC.

Wagadu FC netted one goal in the second half, which eventually proved to be a consolation for them.

The win earns Gunjur United fourth-place on the Second Division League table with 44 points in 29 league matches.

Wagadu FC still occupy tenth-place on the Second Tier table with 31 points after 29 league outings.
