GNOC holds Annual General Meeting

The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) on Saturday held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at its headquarters in Bakau.

The convergence is part of the constitutional mandate of the committee to annually report to its members activities carried out and budget spent in the year under review.

The convergence gave members the opportunity to scrutinize and debate matters concerning the development of sport.

Beatrice Allen, president of The Gambia Olympic Committee (GNOC), said The Gambia will continue to participate in international events.

“We look forward to participating in the African Games, ANOCA Youth Games and ANOCA Beach Games in the future,” she said, adding:

“The administration will continue to work with the respective national associations to prepare them for the games mentioned to ensure The Gambia’s participation.”

 

According to her, The Gambia is well grounded in their programmes and activities of the Commonwealth Games Federation, noting that that GNOC was able to secure a grant to support the qualification of athletes to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Allen revealed that her GNOC is presently working with the Government of The Gambia, adding that they are preparing a team for the Commonwealth Youth Games scheduled to take place in Trinidad and Tobago.

Treasure of the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC), Muhammed Jagana, who gave highlights of revenues and expenditures of the year under review, noted that for the year under view they got a surplus D1.5 million.

“We have a depreciation charge of D419,000. There was a slight decrease or increase of debtors of D21,000, and increase or decrease of creditors is D184,000. There was a priority adjustment of D153,000, bringing the total outflow for operating activity to D1,560,000,” he explained.

In the 3-hour long debate, member associations approved the 2021 Secretary General's and the Treasurer's audited account reports.

Delegates also adopted the 2023 budget as presented by the treasurer.
