The Gambia Wrestling Association (GWA) African bronze medalists last week paid a courtesy call on the President of the Gambia National Olympic Committee, Mrs Beatrice Allen at the Olympic House.

The delegation led by President Serign Modou Faye also presented medals won by the team at the recently concluded African Wrestling Championships held in Tunis to the GNOC President.

Madam Beatrice Allen expressed delight with the performance of the wrestlers and congratulated the team for representing the country well in a continental tournament. "This should be publisher because every leader wants to leave a legacy. I want to be able to count how many medals Gambia has won during my tenure. I want half of the sports we have in this country to go out and compete for medals," she affirmed.

President Allen said the GNOC will continue to support the wrestlers through the GWA. She tasked the wrestlers to be proud of their national flag and focus on what they want to achieve. She described GWA as part of the good national associations/federations.

Serign Modou Faye, president of the Gambia Wrestling Association, thanked the GNOC for fully funding the team's participation in African Championship.

He said GWA will continue to work closely with the GNOC in ensuring that more opportunities are available for Gambian wrestlers to participate in international competitions.

Wrestler Babacarr Mboge and Coach Nyang Senghore both thanked the GNOC President and promised that they would win medals for the country.

Mboge promised that they would go into the African Beach Games next month with the same determination and hunger to win.
