
The Foni Boys defeated Brufut 2-1 in a well-attended replay final played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on Saturday after the first final ended 2-2 at the same venue on 29th December 2024.
Both sides made a flying start to the match and created goal scoring chances.
Goal poacher Modou Lamin Colley gave Foni the lead in the 33rd minute of the match from an astonishing header after Lamin Camara’s free-kick.
Brufut fought hard for an equaliser but to avail thus the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Foni.
Upon resumption of the match, Foni picked up where they left in the first half and piled heavy pressure on Brufut defence line, crafting goal scoring opportunities.
Winger Edrissa Gibba scored the second goal for Foni in the 79th minute of the match to dash Brufut’s hopes of coming back to their feet.
Brufut searched for an equaliser and created goal scoring opportunities.
Abdou Karim Chorr pulled back one goal for Brufut in the 83rd minute of the match, which eventually proved to be a consolation for the Sannehmentereng boys.
As champions, Foni went home with a giant trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of D100, 000 while Brufut received silver medals and D80, 000 as runners-up.
Brufut received the best fans club award, while Gunjur received the most discipline team award.
Omar Mendy of Lamin received the best goalkeeper of the tournament award, while Abdou Kadir Touray of Sanyang received youngster player of the tournament award.
Sulayman Kambi of Brufut received the goal of the season award, while Edrisa Gibba of Foni received the best player of the tournament award.
Abdou Kadir Sabally of Sukuta received the leading goal scorer award, while Ebrima Camara of Foni received the best coach of the tournament award.
The final was attended by the Chairman of Brikama Area Council, Yankuba Darboe, Lord Mayor of Kanifing Municipality Council, Talib Ahmed Bensouda and National Assembly Members.
