Both teams played a well-contested match, showing great skills and talents in the final that was sponsored by the late Alh. M.O. Faal family.
Both teams created goal scoring opportunities but neither side was able to convert any of those chances, leaving the scoreline a barren draw.
As winners, Erinjang were awarded a giant trophy, gold medals and a cheque for D25, 000, while Jeshwang City were given a consolation prize of D15, 000 as runners up.
Speaking in an interview with reporters after the game, Patrick Sambou, head coach of Erinjang FC, expressed delight over winning the Serrekunda West nawetan curtain raiser final. He thanked his players for their wonderful performance.
According to him, the triumph would be a stepping stone towards another success for Erinjang in the upcoming ‘nawetan’ season.
Omar Drammeh, head coach of Jeshwang City, expressed disappointment with the final result, noting that his boys were just unlucky not to convert any of their chances created during the game.
He added that they were going to use the defeat as a learning point to rectify their mistakes ahead of the new season.
