CAF fines Senegal Coach Pap Thiaw $100,000 with 5-match suspension

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has handed Senegal coach Pape Thiaw a five (5 ) match suspension and a $100,000 fine for  his unsporting conduct.

Gaffer Thiaw instructed his players to walk off the pitch during their 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco on 18th January 2025.

Senegalese players Ismaila Sarr and Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye have each been banned for two CAF matches for similar misconduct.

Senegal national team was fined $615,000.

The Senegal Football Federation was fined more than $600,000 for breaches of Caf’s disciplinary code.

Morocco Football Federation was fined $315,000 for misconduct by players, staff and supporters. 

The sanctions will apply only to Caf competitions and do not affect preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

Moroccan Defender Achraf Hakimi has been suspended for two matches for unsporting actions.
