VISA BOND FOR US CITIZEN APPLYING FOR GAMBIAN VISA
Greetings to you Your Excellency Dear Mr President Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, as it’s our moral duty to pray for our leaders, I am therefore praying for your continued wellbeing and pray this letter finds you in good health.
Your Excellency Mr President, I write to you today expressing my deep concern regarding the bond imposed on Gambians hoping to travel to the United States of America. The ordinary Gambians spends millions of dalasis on visa application every year with the hope of travelling to the USA for one reason or the order, in most cases genuine applicants with genuine reasons and intentions to travel to USA are often rejected without any genuine reasons, normally no explanations or good reason are given to the visa applicants. These are hard earned monies by ordinary Gambians that are non-refundable, while an American travelling to the Gambia has been made very easy by The Gambia.
The bond of Fifteen Thousand United States Dollars (US$ 15,000) imposed on Gambian applicants is regrettable and unacceptable, it’s an infringement on the right of Gambians to Travel to the United States of America, hence am urging the Gambia Government to consider imposing a reciprocal amount of Thirty Thousand (US$ 30,000) on Americans hoping to make a similar trip to the Gambia. Travelling is a Fundamental Human Right not a privilege and therefore everyone should have equal rights when it comes to the movement of people from one place to another. It’s natural that we need America and America needs us.
Gambians are kind, law abiding and one of the most peaceful people in the World and we cannot be categorized otherwise.
We indeed value and honor our relationship with The USA, America and Americans can continue being our good friends and the reciprocal charges should only be seen as a fair response from the Government and people of the Gambia for the bond imposed on our citizens.
Your Excellency Mr President, as said earlier, travelling is a Fundamental human right not a privilege and therefore Gambian citizens equally have the right to travel to any part of the world without any prejudice. This is guaranteed in article thirteen (13) of the Universal Declaration on Human and Peoples Right that states that "Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state" and "Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country".
Your Excellency Mr President, I hope and pray that your government consider this request for The Gambia our homeland. Long live the Gambia.
