WB Group Regional Vice President Visits Gambia

BANJUL, July 5, 2026 –– A high-level delegation from the World Bank Group (WBG) will undertake an official visit to The Gambia from June 5–7, 2026. The delegation will be led by Ousmane Diagana, Regional Vice President for Western and Central Africa.

As part of the visit, Mr Diagana will participate in the Joint Africa Caucus Meeting (June 6-8), which brings together African Governors of both the WBG and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to discuss the continent’s development priorities. The Gambia's hosting of this gathering reflects its active role and commitment to advancing the continent’s development agenda. 

In addition to the Caucus, the delegation will hold bilateral meetings with H.E. President Adama Barrow and senior Government officials. The mission will also include engagements with private sector leaders and civil society representatives, as well as project site visits highlighting results achieved through World Bank Group – financed interventions in health, education, and tourism.

The World Bank Group as of June 30, 2026 had an active IDA portfolio of US$582.45 million (8 national projects) plus US$216.00 million (5 regional projects), giving a combined total of US$798.45 million. 

 

As of June 24, 2026, IFC’s program totals $14.4 million in commitments.
