Police are investigating an alleged violent assault in Niani Banni village, Sami District, Central River Region North, after a man sustained serious head and body injuries in what he claims was an attempted murder linked to allegations of an extramarital relationship.

The victim, Sulayman Bah, alleged that he was attacked by Aboulie Kora Bah after being summoned to the suspect’s residence on the night of the incident.

According to Sulayman, the suspect initially sent his children to invite him to his compound. He said he informed the children that he had just returned from work and would come later because he was tired.

A short while later, Sulayman said he received a phone call from Aboulie Kora Bah, who again requested that he come over. Believing it to be a normal visit, he proceeded to the suspect’s compound.

Upon arrival, Sulayman alleged that he entered the suspect’s room, where Aboulie Kora Bah suddenly struck him with a large stick, repeatedly hitting him on the head and other parts of his body.

The victim said the assault left him bleeding profusely and unable to move or speak.

“He intended to kill me,” Sulayman alleged. “He hit me directly on the head with a big stick. I was covered in blood and could neither talk nor move.”

Sulayman, who described himself as the sole breadwinner of his family, said the injuries have left him unable to work during the peak of the farming season.

“The rainy season has started, but I cannot work to provide for my family,” he said, appealing to the government, philanthropists and members of the public for assistance as he recovers.

When questioned about the alleged assault, Aboulie Kora Bah reportedly claimed that he attacked Sulayman because he believed the victim was involved in a romantic relationship with his wife.

The allegation has not been independently verified.

According to the victim, the matter has been reported to both the Janjanbureh and Kuntaur Police Stations, where investigations are underway.

Sulayman further claimed that investigators requested photographs of his injuries and the clothes he was wearing at the time of the alleged assault as part of the evidence gathering process.

Police have not yet issued an official statement on the incident, and no information was immediately available regarding whether any arrests or charges have been made.

Editor’s Note: The allegations reported above are based on claims made by the complainant and the reported response of the accused. As the matter is under police investigation, no determination of criminal liability has been made.
