The aim of the gathering was to enlighten people on the Draft Vehicles Emission Standard, means of controlling imported vehicles, emission limit for all heavy duty vehicles, and emission limit for gas, and light duty vehicles using petrol and diesel in compliance with harmonised specifications in the ECOWAS region in line with Europe standard.
According to organizers, all imported and/or registered vehicles in The Gambia shall comply with the tier 2 emission standard set out in Annex Emission Limit for two wheel motor vehicles, tricycle and quad cycle.
All two, three and four wheels already in circulation in the country shall comply with the tier 1 emission standard set out in the Annex to reduce the level of pollutants emission from the said motor vehicles.
