The donation comes at a critical time when the hospital has reportedly been faced with acute shortages of essential drugs needed to respond to the demand of the public.
According to Mr. Jaiteh, his decision to intervene was inspired by a viral video circulating on social media where a patient lamented the lack of basic medicines at the hospital.
Shortly after the presenting the items, Mr. Jaiteh explained that the emotional video touched his heart and compelled him to act immediately.
“When I watched the video, I felt deeply concerned. Health is everyone’s business and no patient should suffer because medicines are unavailable. I knew I had to do something,” he said.
Rather than making assumptions, Mr. Jaiteh revealed that he personally contacted the hospital management to enquire more about the specific medicines most urgently needed.
After receiving the list, he said, he used his resources to purchase all the drugs before arranging for their delivery to the hospital.
The medicines, he added, were officially handed over to the hospital management through pharmacist assistant, ………………………….
Receiving the items, Modou Wadda, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the institution, describing the donation as timely and impactful.
The medicines, he added, would greatly support healthcare delivery at the facility and ease the burden on patients who often struggle to access treatment.
“This support will go a long way in helping the hospital serve the people better. We are truly grateful to Mr. Jaiteh for responding to the needs of the community in such a swift and selfless manner,” he stated.
The hospital official praised Mr. Jaiteh’s humanitarian spirit, saying his intervention demonstrates the important role individuals and the private sector can play in complementing government efforts in the health sector.
For many people, the donation symbolises hope and solidarity during difficult times, further describing the benefactor as a man who continues to use his success to positively impact the lives of ordinary Gambians.
Despite his growing recognition for charitable works across the country, Mr. Jaiteh insisted that his gestures should not be linked to politics or personal gain.
“This is not about politics. It is about humanity. If we are blessed, we should help others. A healthy nation benefits everyone,” he emphasised.
He thus challenged businessman and other well-meaning Gambians, especially those in the private sector to support hospitals and vulnerable communities whenever possible.
The donation has since generated widespread praise on social media, with many commending Mr. Jaiteh for demonstrating leadership, compassion, and patriotism through action rather than words.
As healthcare institutions across the country continue to face challenges, acts of kindness such as this are being viewed as a strong reminder that collective responsibility and community support remain essential in improving healthcare services for all.
