Retired civil servant pays tribute to the late VP

A retired senior civil servant has joined the long list of mourners to pay condolences to the late Vice President of The Gambia Badara Alieu Joof, who died last month while on treatment in India.

In a letter dated 23rd January 2023 and addressed the President of Republic of The Gambia, Adama Barrow at Statehouse, Abdoulie K.M. Jallow, expressed shock at the sudden of the late vice president.

“On behalf of my family, I would like to extend my condolences to President Adama Barrow and his Government, the wife and children of the late VP and the entire people of the Gambia.” he said.

Jallow, a resident of Essau village in the North Bank Region, further described the former Vice President Joof as a steadfast, dedicated, loyal, trusted, humble, honest and competent public servant, who steered the affairs of the state diligently.

With wisdom, tenacity, professionalism and foresight, the late VP forged ever–stronger International partnerships for the Gambia with international development partners, or organisations and countries and by extension strengthened ties with Senegal and India.

He said the late VP was an epitome of excellence in communication skills and a mastery of English throughout his government career and he led meaningful strategic and transformative business decisions with candor, diligence, strategic focus and outcomes.

“The late VP made a significant contribution to the education and tourism ecosystems of the country, the values he holds and the accomplishments he has made and his reputation are truly admirable.”

In honour of his legacy, he joined Gambians to mourn his passing along with his family, friends and Gambians. “I pray that may Allah grant him the highest chambers of Jannatul firdaws, ameen.”
