As the holy month of Ramadan gets closer to end in the midst of covid-19, the Majmou’atu Rawdatil Majaalis in collaboration with Sheriff Muhammed Sanusi Nano Hydara of Supreme Islamic Council recently donated 94 bags of sugar to three regions and municipality.

The secretary general of Rawdatil Majaalis disclosed that the 94 bags of sugar already handed over to governors of the regions and chairman of the municipality are ready for distribution to the imams and Majaalis sects in North Bank, Central River, West Coast Region and Kanifing Municipal Council respectively.

Foday Mahmud Touray announced this on Saturday during an organised Ramadan iftar held at Majmou’atu Rawdatil Majaalis Secretariat in Abu Sey Junction, Tabokoto.

Touray disclosed that 90 per cent of the money used to purchase the sugar came from Sheriff Muhammed Sanusi Nano Hydara while Majmou’atu Rawdatil Majaalis added only 10 per cent.

He therefore thanked him for the benevolence and described him a good Muslim who uses everything he has to promote Islam.

Head of Mufti at MRM, Sheikh Bamino Jaiteh explained the rationale behind the donation of the sugar to the Muslims within the aforementioned regions and municipality.

Among other things, he said is their duty as an Islamic organisation “to assist Muslims in this covid-19 period as everyone is doing everything possible to contain the pandemic.

According to him, this is not the first time MRM makes a donation in the holy month of Ramadan.
