PURA receives ERERA delegation ahead of November regional forum

The Director General of The Gambia Public Utilities Regulatory Authority - PURA on Wednesday 12th October 2022 received in audience a four-member delegation from the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA) ahead of the 7th ERERA Annual Forum expected to be held in The Gambia from the 7th to 11th November 2022.

The delegation was led by Dr. Haliru Dikko, Council Member of ERERA.

The visit also accorded the delegates the chance to assess and evaluate PURA's level of preparedness ahead of the forthcoming regional convergence.

It would be recalled that The Gambia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority to host the first post-pandemic ERERA continental annual forum.

Welcoming the delegation, Yusupha M. Jobe, Director General of PURA renewed The Gambia’s willingness to host one of the most significant regional FORUMS, where delegates would discuss critical issues relevant to the electricity and energy sector.

This year’s forum, however, marks the first post-pandemic ERERA Continental Annual Forum and will attract participants from diverse regional regulators, African energy institutions, and international partners.
