Through their support, the foundation has significantly enhanced healthcare services, provided essential aid to Gambia Prisons Services and facilitated critical community resources, including the acquisition of funeral vans for both Banjul and Pipeline Mosque. Through these humanitarian ventures, millions of Dalasis have been raised by individuals and institutions to fund these vital initiatives, strengthening community welfare and reinforcing the bonds of solidarity nationwide.
Alhaji Mam Sait Njie, chairperson of the Welfare and Fundraising Committee of the Pipeline Mosque Foundation, explained that the key contributor to the Foundation’s healthcare initiatives is Emporium, which he said, has donated nearly 1,000 bed sheets annually for over a decade to hospitals across the country.
This remarkable act of generosity, he said, has played an essential role in improving healthcare delivery and patient care. The foundation extends its deepest gratitude to Emporium for its continued commitment to community well-being.
In the spirit of Ramadan, Njie explained that the foundation has provided much-needed assistance to the Gambia Prisons Services inmates, delivering sugar, tea, milk powder, and dates during Ramadan Iftar at all Prisons Centers across The Gambia, coordinated through Mile 2 Central Prison.
This support, he said, is valued at nearly half a million dalasis and the initiative has been going on for 15th consecutive year.
“The Foundation acknowledges and appreciates the kindness of all contributors, including those who choose to remain anonymous, for making these efforts possible. Their trust and compassion have ensured that those in need receive support during the holy month,” Njie pointed out.
Similarly, the foundation in collaboration with the Committee of Banjul Muslim Elders and supporters nationwide, successfully raised millions of Dalasis to procure two funeral vans. These vehicles will provide dignified funeral services for families during times of loss.
This initiative was made possible through the generosity of individuals, businesses, and organisations, including Gambians in the Diaspora, Castle Oil Company, Africell, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs, and the Kanifing Municipal Council.
“Their contributions exemplify the power of collective community action,” he added.
Their support to the Gambian Prisons Services is visible for all to see, as on Eid 2025, he spent the day at Mile 2 Prison, praying with inmates and sharing a meal with them in a ‘touching display of compassion and solidarity.’
To this end, he spoke about the Foundation’s resolve to continue to build a more united and compassionate society. “The generosity of donors and supporters remains a beacon of hope and a testament to the strength of community spirit.”
