NGBV concludes caravan tour

 Network Against Gender Based Violence (NGVB) in collaboration with other stakeholders recently concluded a 16-day caravan activism in the country. This year’s theme was: “Unite Activism to End Violence Against Women and Girls.”

The team visited communities and schools in North Bank, Lower River and West Coast Regions in order to dialogue and engage citizens to report all cases of sexual violence in their respective communities.

Babou Mbye, a member of Network Against Gender Based Violence (NGBV) said most Gender Based Violence cases in the country take place in communities and schools.

He described the act as a human right abuse, adding that such acts need to be addressed in order to ensure safe societies and young ones. He called on all to join hands in order to end the practice by reporting any suspected act to relevant authority and on time.

 Awa Gai, Ministry of Justice representative said there are laws in place to punish anyone found wanting.

Aja Hydara, a native of Kerewan in North Bank Region commended the team for what she described as a very important session for them and their families. She called on her colleagues to be vigilant and report any suspected case of Gender Based Violence
