Members of Ex-Senegambia Staff Association last Thursday donated food and other items to SOS Children’s Village in Bakoteh.

The donated items included soups, bags of rice, bags of onion, gallons of vegetable oil, cartons of can beef, and bag of OMO powder.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at SOS Children’s Village ground, Kaba Keita, the Public Relations Officer for Ex-Senegambia Staff Association explained that they began by supporting each other after forming the association during times of need.

He added that they later supported Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital. Mr Keita noted that their aim is to support Tanka Tanka again after assisting SOS Children’s Village.

He highlighted that everyone should contribute whatever they can toward the development of the nation, adding that their plan is to include their children in the association to ensure they continue their legacy when they are no more.

Ndey Haddy Sowe, deputy chairwoman of the association said that they were always united when working at Senegambia Beach Hotel. She added that they have organised a fundraising event with Jaliba Kuyateh in the past. Madam Sowe pointed out that the development of the country should not be only left with the government to handle.

Hatab Beyai, chairman of the association said that the SOS Children’s Village children are everyone’s children and therefore deserves to be supported.

He said the children have lost their parents but are happy at SOS Children’s Village. He therefore thanked officials and mothers at the Village for their care towards the children.

Haddy Njie-Touray, alternative care coordinator at SOS Children’s Village in Bakoteh said that they receive support through their sponsorship programmes to take care of the children. She added that the donated items will therefore go a long way in complementing their monthly supply. She thanked the association for the assistance.

She described the assistance as a huge thing to them, adding that the money they would have used to buy food items this month will now be invested into something else.

Agie Njie, head mother at SOS Children’s Village in Bakoteh thanked members of the association for their foresight and assistance. She added that it is only the Almighty who can reward anyone who supports the children because they are our future leaders.
