The All Women Arts Exhibition is scheduled for the 8th to 11th of March 2023 and in line with the celebration, the Network will host its first-ever Women of Excellence in Arts Awards to recognise and celebrate women who have immensely contributed to the development of the arts over the years.
Matty Jobe of the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC), explained that the exhibition will feature women in fashion, handicrafts, visual arts, films, and so on.
The event, she added, will be dedicated to the First Lady of The Gambia, Her Excellency Madam Fatoumatta Bah Barrow, as Chief Guest of Honor, while Mayoress Rohey Malick Lowe of Banjul will be the Grand Patron.
“The event hopes to draw government attention to the need and yearning of women in the arts by creating a comfortable environment for women in the arts to network, build their capacity, and provide platforms to exhibit and showcase their talents.”
Jobe noted that their main partner in this is Alliance Francaise, Banjul.
Launched in June 2022, The Network of Women in The Arts seeks to create and promote creative experiences for women artists via partnerships with the mission of providing leadership advocacy, capacity, building and connections among Gambian women.
