The Andandorr Movement, led by Hon. Abdoulie Njai, National Assembly Member for Banjul Central, has formally declared its support for President Adama Barrow’s agenda, citing what it described as a strong alignment between the President’s development priorities and the movement’s community development objectives.

The movement announced its position in a statement issued by the Office of Hon. Njai following discussions with President Barrow on matters relating to social welfare and community development.

According to the statement, the engagement between the movement and the President had previously been disclosed to various media outlets. Following extensive consultations and internal deliberations, the movement said it had resolved to support the President’s agenda.

"Following careful consultations and consideration, we have decided to support President Barrow’s agenda," the statement said.

It noted that the decision was informed by the movement’s assessment of the President’s development priorities, which it believes closely align with the aspirations and objectives it has long pursued on behalf of its community.

The movement described its decision as a deliberate political judgement based on the direction it considers most appropriate for advancing community development and contributing to national progress.

The declaration also represents a public expression of the movement’s readiness to work alongside President Barrow’s agenda on issues it regards as critical to the welfare and development of its constituents.

However, the statement stopped short of indicating whether the decision entails a formal political alliance, an agreement on government appointments, or any other political arrangement between the movement and the President.

It also did not provide details of any specific projects, commitments or development initiatives arising from the discussions.

Emphasising the importance of transparency, the Andandorr Movement said it considered it necessary to inform the public of its decision and the reasons underpinning it.

The movement acknowledged that its position may generate differing opinions but stressed its respect for those who may hold alternative views.

"We equally respect those who may hold different views and remain committed to constructive engagement, accountability, community welfare and responsible participation in the political process," the statement added.

The movement further expressed appreciation to the people of Banjul Central and the wider Gambian public for their continued support, engagement and understanding.

The statement was signed by the Office of Hon. Abdoulie Njai, National Assembly Member for Banjul Central, and copied to the Executive Committee of the Andandorr Movement.

The declaration comes as the movement moves to publicly clarify its political position following consultations with the President, while placing social welfare, community empowerment and development at the centre of its reasons for supporting his agenda.
