Kawral Fulbeh Africa comprises members from various countries across Africa including The Gambia, Niger, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Sudan, among others.
According to them, the move is the result of the trust in the chief as well as their hope that he can bring Fulas within the continent together as one family.
Governor of the region, Hon. Ousman Bah attended the ceremony and said it is only where there is democracy that each ethnic group is given the opportunity to form their own associations and practice their culture the way they like.
He described culture as very important and allows people to learn and adapt good behaviors and also helps people to live together peacefully.
He urged the group to maintain peace and work towards supporting national development. Demba Sallah, a representative of Fulbeh Africa Association described Chief York as a man of integrity and influence.
Hawa Bah, a member of Kawral Fulbeh Africa thanked Chief York for accepting to be their father.
Honorable Seedy S.K. Njie, Deputy Speaker of The Gambia National Assembly who is also a native of Nianija expressed delight with the move by the group. He expressed his willingness to work with Chief York in supporting the group.
Chief Oustass Dawda York thanked the group for their trust in him and expressed his readiness to support them in bringing Fulas across the continent and beyond together to promote unity, peace and culture.
