Kanifing Scout Association elects new executive

The Gambia Scout Association on 11th February, 2024 marked a significant moment in the history of the association as the Kanifing Municipality Scout Association convened at the NaNA Conference Hall to elect a new executive.

Abdoulie Danso emerged as the newly elected Regional Commissioner, tasked with leading the region's scouts into a new era of development and collaboration.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Danso outlined his commitment to addressing key areas that will shape the future of the Kanifing Municipality Scouts. The area includes:

1. Empowering Communities:

Mr. Danso expressed his dedication to fostering a sense of community and empowerment among the youth within KM Scouts and other youth bodies in the region. Collaborative initiatives will be at the forefront of this effort, he said.

2. Education and Youth Development:

Highlighting the foundational role of education, Mr. Danso pledged to advocate for increased investment in education. His focus, he went on will include ensuring access to quality learning environments and creating youth programs to equip young people with skills for a competitive future.

3.Environmental Sustainability:

Emphasising the need to protect Kanifing Municipality, Mr. Danso announced plans to implement and promote Ecosystem-Based Adaptation to make the environment green and healthy.

4.Transparent Governance:

Mr. Danso committed to fostering a culture of transparency in the governance of the movement, ensuring collaborative decision-making and accessible information for the public.

5. Intentions to Collaborate:

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, the Regional Commissioner pledged to work closely with government stakeholders and youth associations to achieve comprehensive and inclusive developmental goals for Kanifing Municipality Scouts.

6. Scout Troops and Training:

The regional executive, in collaboration with the National Executive, will conduct a series of training sessions covering various scout ranks and leadership roles, emphasising the development of skills crucial for effective leadership within the scout movement.

7. Qualities Mr. Danso brings:

The newly elected Regional Commissioner outlined four key qualities he will bring to the role - Experience, Accessibility, Dedication, and a shared vision of building a Kanifing Municipality that all residents can be proud to call home.

8. Secretariat:

Mr. Danso highlighted the importance of having an office for the regional executive to achieve their vision, expressing intent to collaborate with the Municipal Council to secure one.

As Mr. Abdoulie Danso takes on the responsibility of leading the Kanifing Municipality Scout Association, he encourages all scouts and stakeholders to join hands in leaving the world a little better than they found it. "Vote for progress. Vote for change. Vote for a better future," he stated while calling for unity and commitment towards a brighter tomorrow.
