Saikou Ceesay, an executive member of the organisation, stated that Hygiene Circle is a non-profit committed to advancing hygiene and health education.
He underscored the goal of educating children and young people about essential topics like hand hygiene, cleanliness, and the prevention of infectious diseases.
He noted that engaging materials and instructional resources, designed to convey hygiene knowledge in a fun and illustrative manner, are frequently utilised in schools, daycare centers, and community organisations.
"These resources play a crucial role in helping children grasp the significance of hygiene in their daily lives."
"We are thrilled to collaborate with the German International School Accra to promote hygiene awareness in Ghana," he stated.
He asserts that this partnership empowers them to make a meaningful contribution to health education through hands-on learning, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for numerous children and families.
Ansata Jallow, the headmistress of the Gambia College Buganala EDC and Lower Basic School, emphasised the vital importance of personal hygiene for students.
By practicing good hygiene, he said, pupils can effectively prevent the spread of germs and illnesses, promote self-care, and boost their self-esteem. Instilling these habits from an early age encourages essential practices such as regular handwashing, proper oral hygiene, frequent bathing, wearing clean clothes, and maintaining clean nails.
“Ultimately, these habits significantly contribute to their overall health and well-being within the school environment.”
Madam Jallow emphasised that maintaining good hygiene practices, such as regularly washing hands, greatly minimises the transmission of bacteria and viruses, effectively preventing the spread of common illnesses like colds and flu.
She motivated her students by stressing that maintaining cleanliness enhances their self-perception and self-esteem, ultimately benefiting their social interactions and boosting their confidence.
She urged the pupils to share the knowledge they acquired from the training with their peers, highlighting its importance for their well-being and the improvement of the school community.
Lamin Sanneh, a registered nurse and resource expert, stressed that enhanced hygiene practices contribute significantly to better health, increased confidence, and overall personal development.
He stated that maintaining good hygiene is essential for preventing the spread of infectious diseases and enabling children to enjoy long, healthy lives. Moreover, it helps reduce school absenteeism, leading to improved academic performance.
