The gesture which is part of GHANCOY 8 Civil Military Cooperation was done in commemoration of Eid-Ul-Adha locally called Tobaski.
The donated items included a ram, bags of rice, prayer mats, packs soft drinks, packs of water, medical items among others.
The presentation was graced by George Sonko, chief of Lower Nuimi District, community elders, members of the mosque committee, GHANCOY 8 unit members, among others.
Lieutenant Colonel Abraham Dery, contingent commander for GHANCOY 8 described the day as a moment that they are all happy about, adding that as Muslims they are required to follow the examples of prophet Ibrahim who was ordered by Allah to sacrifice his son.
“Whatever we are doing is just to signify what the prophet did. We cannot afford to do less,” he stated, while adding that donating a ram cannot be measured or equalised to the life of a human being.
He said they believe their presence at the community will foster unity and bring them even closer. He also urged beneficiaries to always remember them in their prayers.
Dodou Saidy, Imam for Essau Central Mosque said the gesture might be small in the eyes of GHANCOY 8 but to them it is huge and therefore thanked them for their continuous support.
Lieutenant (GN) Dr Christopher Boadi Sarpong, doctor for GHANCOY 8 in presenting the medical items to Essau District Hospital said he hoped the items will go a long way in supporting the hospital.
