GBoS receives 15 motorbikes from HISWACA

The Harmonizing and Improving Statistics in West and Central Africa (HISWACA) project, last Friday presented 15 motorbikes to the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBoS). The motorbikes were donated through the World Bank.

The World Bank-HISWACA project, is designed to support statistical operations in West and Central Africa.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the GBoS office, Nyakassi M.B. Sanyang, the Statistician General spoke at length on the importance of the donated motorbikes, saying: “The motorbikes will go a long way in addressing some of the challenges we use to encounter especially with mobility.”

He continued: “The motorbikes will help facilitate in collecting our data.  These data collections help GBoS to determine the inflation rate.”

“The data collected also help to determine the performance of the country’s economy and the living conditions of the people.”

Nyassi hailed the World Bank for their continued support to the GBoS, adding: “In the past months, we also witnessed the handing over of 24 vehicles.”
