Gambian philanthropist donates to 3 health centers

A Denmark-based Gambian patron, Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh recently donated three refrigerators and three flat-screen television sets to three health centers in the North Bank and Central River regions.

The beneficiary health institutions are Illiassa health center in the North Bank, Dankunku and Kudang Health centers in the Central River region.  The materials were handed over to the three beneficiary health centers by the donor’s Gambian counterpart, Kalilu Jaiteh.

Presenting the items, Kalilu Jaiteh said the Gambian philanthropist has been supporting the country’s health facilities for the past 20 years.

“This is all gear towards contributing his part to nation building. There is no health facilities in the country who did not benefit from Sawaneh’s kind gesture and he (Sawaneh) did not only stop at health facilities, but do offer help to Prisons and other areas. Be assured that Mr. Sawaneh will continue his good initiatives,” he assured.

Saikou Leigh, a senior Nursing Midwife at Illiassa Health Center, Alhagie Marenah OIC at Dankunku Health Center and Yaya Gibba Public Health Desk Officer at Kudang Health Center all lauded Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh for his ‘worthy and timely’ support. They promised that the donated items will be wisely utilised.

“We knew the donation was made because of the concern Mr. Sawaneh have for the people of The Gambia and we will appreciate if he continue this kind hearted humanitarian gesture,” health personnel appealed.
