Lamin Jaiteh, proprietor of the school said he was motivated to establish the school as a trained qualified teacher, who taught for 20 years in variety of schools. “I worked in so many schools and felt it was important to establish my own school where I would contribute to the welfare of children in providing quality education,” he explained.
He pointed out that at some schools children are rejected during enrollment but noted that at Galaxy they feel education is everyone’s right with no one too old to be schooled.
Mr Jaiteh highlighted that the covid-19 pandemic affected the entire globe particularly schools with some students forgetting what they were taught prior to the closure of schools.
Jaiteh said a taskforce was setup for private schools and they presented a budget to the Ministry of Education and National Assembly Select Committee on Education to look at. But at the end, he said, their budget was not considered.
The veteran teacher also said that despite the pandemic, his school’s enrollment has increased due to the trust and confidence the community has in the school.
The school, he added is currently doing very well but was quick to say that they need more furniture, computers among other materials.
He therefore appealed for assistance from Gambians and philanthropists to enable the school achieve its set target goals.
