The training on peace support operation was conducted by the British Army Short Term Training Team to enrich the military experience and knowledge of Gambian solders in peace keeping operations for better preparation in The Gambia and other part of the world.
The training was base on security, combating casualty care, gender, intervention humanitarian law, protection of civilians, IED awareness and counter IDE techniques, vehicle checkpoint manning, searches, public order management and convoy operations.
Lt. General Yakuba Drammeh, Chief of Defence Staff for The Gambia Army Forces urged trainers to always serve their country with diligence, high sense of integrity, moral conduct in performing their functions.
David Belgrove, British High Commissioner to The Gambia expressed gratuity with both countries sharing experiences to prepare their men to contribute to the peace and stability in the world.
Abdoulie Bah, Commandant of The Gambia Army Forcers Training School, said: “Today the world is filled with war, terrorism, turmoil and confusion while men have made many technological inventions but are still not able to create peace.”
