The landmark vote took place on Sunday, 26 July 2026, during the association’s Congress at the Regional Education Directorate in Region One, Kanifing.
Founded years ago with the mission of safeguarding Pulaar language, Fulani traditions, and fostering peaceful coexistence, Fulbe Africa has long stood as a beacon of cultural pride and youth empowerment.
The latest elections reaffirm both its democratic spirit and its determination to strengthen its role in Gambian society and beyond.
The Congress, a constitutional requirement, re‑elected Musa Baldeh as President, a decision that underscored the trust and confidence of the membership.
Alongside him, a diverse team of leaders was chosen to steer the association forward. Several positions were filled unopposed, a striking signal of the faith members place in their leaders. These uncontested victories were not signs of complacency but of respect — a collective endorsement of individuals seen as embodying the association’s values and aspirations.
Yet democracy thrives on choice, and other positions witnessed spirited contests. Far from sowing division, these contests reflected Fulbe Africa’s vibrancy: members stepping forward with passion and vision, eager to contribute to the collective mission.
The electoral body supervised the process with integrity, transparency, and fairness, ensuring every ballot cast was a testament to accountability and inclusivity.
President’s Call for Unity
In his acceptance speech, President Baldeh struck a tone of gratitude and resolve. “I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for the trust and confidence bestowed upon me again to lead this executive for the coming years,” he declared.
He emphasised that collective effort is essential: “The executive members alone cannot do it. With your support, we will reach where we all aspire to be – for the betterment of the association.”
The election of this executive signals more than continuity; it marks a fresh chapter for Fulbe Africa. With a diverse leadership team in place, the association is poised to deepen its commitment to cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and community development.
