France representative visits CRR North

Jean Charles Allaard, France’s representative of the World Food Programme in The Gambia last Thursday met Government officials at Niani Senior Secondary School in Central River Region (CRR) North. 

The visit by the France representative was meant to inspect projects supporting school feeding program in CRR North. The French Government is sponsoring schools feeding program in CRR North.                              

Mr Allaard spoke at length about the relationship between The Gambia and France. "The support is meant to complement The Gambia Government effort in providing school meals in CRR North,” he said, adding that they aim to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Ousman Bah, Governor for Central River Region thanked the French Government on behalf of The Gambia Government for their kind gesture.

He said the support would go a long way in helping the region retain students in schools.

He advised parents and teachers to support and guide students and well as inculcate good manners, discipline and knowledge in them as they are the future leaders of the country.

Bubakar Jallow, school chairman for Niani Senior Secondary School also thanked Mr. Allaard for the good work in their schools. He said motivating students to be regular and punctual in schools is laudable. He also thanked them for reducing the feeding burden on them.              ..                       

Fatoumata Jallow, Regional Education Director for Central River Region commended the World Food Program and French Government for supporting students in her region, particularly vulnerable students and women.

She called on others to emulate the World Food Program and French Government in supporting students to stay in school.
