Ex-NEA Executive Director is new adviser to Petroleum minister

Momodou B. Sarr is the new adviser to the Honourable Minister of Petroleum and Energy of The Gambia.

Mr. Sarr, former Executive Director of the National Environment Agency has a wealth of experience on environment.

Mr. Sarr holds an MSc in Environmental and Health Protection from Stockholm University (jointly with Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and MSc and BSc degrees in Earth Sciences from Stockholm University.

Mr Sarr holds a PostGraduate Diploma for Earth Scientists in Well Design, Drilling and Groundwater Legislation from GEOTEC, Sweden.

Mr. Sarr has also completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Ecosystems Management and Environmental Impact Assessment from Brown University, USA and Dalhousie University, Canada.

Between 2003 and 2013, Mr Sarr was the Executive Director of the Gambian National Environment Agency.

In 2013 to 2016, he served as Safeguards Manager at STCRSP World Bank in Liberia. Mr. Sarr was the National Focal Point of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), Chairman of the EIA Working Group at the Gambian National Environment Agency, Chairman of the National Factories Board, and an ex-officio member, National Physical Planning Authority.

Mr Sarr was the Convention Focal for seven Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). He has also served as a permanent member of the Technical Committee on the Land, Environment and Natural Resources of the Constitutional Review Commission, The Gambia.
