One thousand nine hundred and twenty-two beneficiaries each received a 10kg of Macaroni, 10kgs of sugar and 3litres of cooking oil.
One hundred and seventy-six orphans and poor children also received clothes for the celebration of this year’s Eid.
In addition, the organisation is set to provide Iftar for one thousand beneficiaries during the holy month of Ramadan. Madrassas within the Greater Banjul Area are also expected to benefit from the generosity.
The event coordinated by CHRO-Gambia was held at Tallinding Arabic Islamic School ground.
Musa Jallow, country director for CHRO-Gambia in his remarks at the occasion said that CHRO-Gambia is a legally registered organisation founded in 2000 as a charitable and non-profit making organisation with the aim of assisting the needy.
He said that as part of their interventions, CHRO-Gambia built collaboration with national and international organisations to support the vulnerable and poor members of society during Ramadan and other Islamic feasts.
According to Mr. Jallow, their project intervention also includes the provision of food aid, clothing, school materials for orphans and needy children, building and rehabilitation of orphanages, and provision of medical and health service to the needy and vulnerable people in society.
He went on to say that, earlier last month, they also supported 200 beneficiaries in Talokoto each with 10kgs Macaroni, 10kgs sugar and 3litres of cooking oil.
Mr Jallow further said that the support from their Netherlands and Turkish partners is provided on the basis of humanitarian support for the sake of the Almighty Allah.
He stated that as Muslims, it is advisable to support one another during the holy month of Ramadan.
Mr. Jallow also extended his appreciation to the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in The Gambia for always being supportive to them.
