The theme for this year’s Iftar and Conference was “The right of the neighbours in Islam and Irregular Migration.”
The annual Iftar and Conference was graced by several Imams from Wellingara, Abuko and Kunkujang Keitaya.
Welcoming the gathering, Batch Samba Kebbeh, adviser to UCFA commended the association for hosting yet another successful Iftar and Conference.
He stated that last year, some members of the association were with them but this year they are no more. He therefore prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant the departed souls Jannatul Fridawsi.
He assured Uprising Community Football Association of their continuous support.
Ba Alieu Jatta, father of the association urged the youth of community to desist from taking the dangerous journey to Europe.
He expressed optimism that with the intervention of IOM, things can change for the better for Gambian youth.
Sheikh Muhammed Lamin Kanteh, guest speaker for the occasion praised Uprising for organising the event.
“We commend Uprising Community Football Association for their efforts in organising this meaningful event and extend gratitude to all those who supported and contributed to its success,” he added while He urging Muslims to be tolerant.
He said praying, fasting and Hajj are all important but added that building a cordial relationship with one’s fellow human being is equally important.
Pater Sanyang, in delivering the vote of thanks thanked all those who contributed to the success of the event. He also called on youth to unite for the development of the community.
Dembo Badjie, PRO for the Association said the event demonstrates their dedication to promoting education, unity and spiritual development within the community.
