It will be the first and only hearing aids dispensing centre nationwide, equipped with Interacoustics diagnostic instruments, a Danish medical technology company. It will also have an OAE device (Otoacoustic emissions), an essential tool in new-born hearing screening which up to date has never been performed in The Gambia.
The service will be provided by an experienced Cuban audiologist, with over 20 years’ experience, and during the first week, the operations will be assisted by a member of Oticon (the world’s largest manufacturer of hearing aids).
During the training to kick-off the operations, Calia Group will be sponsoring free hearing tests to anybody who would like to walk-in. It will also be donating 40 hearing aids to children and young adults from St.John’s School for the Deaf.
