Banjul to host 13th NAYCONF edition

National Youth Conference and Festival (NAYCONF), an activity that brings together about 2000 youth is set to commence on 15th to 23rd December 2022 in Banjul.

The activity brings together young people from all over the country to create a platform to discuss issues affecting their lives as well as their role in national development.

The information was conveyed to the media at a press conference organised by the National Youth Council on Tuesday at Atlantic Hotel in Banjul.

Alagie Jarju, executive director of the National Youth Council (NYC) assured every young person in the country that the 2022 NAYCONF will be successful and would be marked in the history books.

“We want NAYCONF to be a remarkable event, one that will not only discuss problem faced by young people but also bring possible solutions and be able to implement to change the status quo of youth of this country,” he said.

He added that NAYCONF needs a sum of 11M dalasis to fund the entire event for this year.

Bakary Y. Badjie, Minister of Youth and Sports expressed gratitude that after a few years without the event due to Covid-19 young people from across the country would come back together under the same banner in the biggest youth, sport and cultural event.

“NAYCONF is no longer just about a conference; it has transcended beyond a conference to include activities including sport and culture,” he said.

Ousman Badjie, Chairperson of NYC encouraged the local organising committees to show commitment and take the event seriously to make sure it is a success.

Isatou Secka, chairperson of Kanifing Municipal Youth Committee (KMYC) assured the safety of every participant especially the female participants.

“100% safety is assured to every participant and proper security will be arranged to make sure everyone is safe within these periods,” she assured.

This year’s theme is: “the road to the maintenance of peace and security for socio-economic development of the country.”
