In their quest to nurture and promote Gambian talents, while at the same time bolstering their footprints in the country’s telecommunications landscape, Africell Gambia Ltd on Thursday signed Bangally Touray widely known by his music sobriquet Big Banga - another rising Sarahule artiste in the country.

The signing ceremony, held at the Company’s boardroom, is a testament to Africell Gambia’s resolve and vision to empower young Gambian talents.

Under this new deal, which lasts for one year, Africell will continue to support Big Banga through campaigns, promotions, concerts and major public engagements, while in return Big Banga will proudly carry Africell’s official brand, help amplify the company’s campaigns and strengthen its community.

At the event, Waka Jagne, senior Public Relations Officer of Africell, described the event as “truly a special, proud and historic moment” for the GSM Company.

‘‘Today is not just about putting pen to paper. Today is about vision, culture, empowerment and partnership. Today is about Africell once again affirming its commitment to Gambian talents and the future of our music industry,’’ he gave a sense of the meaning and object of the deal.

The renowned promoter reminds all and sundry that for many years, the company has remained at the forefront of supporting Gambian music, entertainment and young talents.

‘‘We have consistently opened our doors to phenomenal artistes, giving them platforms, opportunities and partnerships that help them grow while inspiring millions of fans across the country,’’ he said.

This, he added, is because Africell believes music and culture are powerful, and that Gambian talents deserve to be celebrated.

Jagne expressed delight that having Big Banga as the first Serahule artiste to officially serve as the Grand Ambassador for Africell “is a proud moment” not only for the company, but also for the Serahule community.

He describes the rising star as someone who has proven himself to be a leading voice, a hit maker and a cultural icon, loved by people from every tribe and every corner of The Gambia.

‘‘His music continues to dominate conversations, playlists and celebrations while his personality reflects something even greater, discipline, community, respect and consistency,” he said, adding that these are the exact values that make artistes and brands successful.

He remains optimistic that the GSM Company and Big Banga are not just building a partnership; rather they are building impact, legacy and above all the future of The Gambia’s entertainment industry.

Reacting to this development, Bangally Touray, widely known by his music sobriquet - Big Banga, said he was grateful to Africell Gambia Ltd for the foresight in endorsing him as a brand ambassador.

Similarly, he thanked and appreciated his growing fans for their constant support, while also acknowledging Africell Gambia’s support over the years he has been treading his music career.

To this end, he spoke of his resolve as brand ambassador to further help amplify and promote Africell’s services through his music. ‘‘So, I'm so happy. Thank you very much,’’ he stated gratefully.
