The Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) is delighted to inform the public that access to and usage of all public beaches in The Gambia remains completely free of charge with no restrictions.

In a press release, the GTBoard said: "The initiative aligns with our commitment to promoting domestic tourism and ensuring that all citizens and residents have the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of our coastline as enshrined in the responsible tourism principle which seeks to ensure balance between the needs of tourists, hosts and the environment.
"However, this is to point out that the beaches of The Gambia are among our most cherished national treasures and a staple in our tourism. They not only attract international visitors but also serve as serene recreational spaces for Gambians to relax, socialize, and engage in leisure activities. By maintaining free access, we aim to encourage more locals to explore and enjoy these coastal gems."
In this light, we urge everyone to take responsibility for preserving the cleanliness and safety of our beaches. The GTBoard kindly reminds all beach-goers to:
1. Dispose of waste in designated bins or carry it home for proper disposal.
2. Avoid littering to protect marine life and preserve the environment.
3. Exercise caution and create a peaceful atmosphere to ensure the safety of themselves and others.
4. Avoid stationing and blocking the frontages of existing hospitality outfits along the coastline.
By keeping our beaches clean and welcoming, we contribute to sustaining The Gambia’s reputation as "The Smiling Coast of Africa" and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainable tourism development.
"Let us work together to enjoy and preserve our beaches for generations to come."
