US$46M water canal still in preparation: VP Jallow

Vice President Muhammed B.S. Jallow, told lawmakers on Wednesday his Ministry is still in preparation for the water canal project that was given by the World Bank. 

He said the water canal project was signed in 2022, and it involves the construction of water canals in The Gambia. 

“The canal pipes will run from Lamin to Abuko and will connect to Bakoteh, Bundung to Kotu and was meant to solve flooding issues in The Gambia.”

In responding to questions asked by Hon Musa Keita, the member for Serrekunda East, regarding the grant disbursement, Vice President said: “the work project is still at its preparation stage. The information I gathered are they are actually inventing extension of interest for the study of the project,” hinting if things go as planned, the project may kick-start next year.
