UDP sends Letter of Condolence to Turkey amid devastating earthquake

The United Democratic Party (UDP) has sent a Letter of Condolence to the Turkish Embassy in Banjul to commiserate with the people of Turkey amid a devastating earthquake that killed more than 7,000 people.

The letter which was signed by the party’s Secretary General and Leader H.E. ANM Ousainu Darboe reads below:

A letter of condolences signed by H.E. ANM Ousainu Darboe, Secretary General and
Party Leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), and addressed, through the Turkish Ambassador, H.E. Tolga BERMEK, to the Authorities and people of the Republic of Turkiye, was presented by Mr. Lamin Manneh, UDP’s Deputy Secretary for External Affairs and the Diaspora, to H.E Varol TEPECIK, Third Secretary at the Embassy, in the absence of the Ambassador who has travelled back to Turkiye to
be present on the ground in these challenging moments for the country.

In the letter of condolences, H.E. Darboe commiserated with the Authorities and people of Turkiye for the huge loss of life and massive destruction of property suffered by the country in the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit the
nation on 5th and 6th February 2023, and its subsequent aftershocks.

H.E. Darboe prayed for the departed souls and wished the injured victims speedy and full recovery. He also wished the Turkish Authorities and People, the fortitude to bear this immense loss and grief and to emerge from it even stronger as a nation.

On behalf of H.E. Darboe, Mr. Lamin Manneh signed the book of condolences
opened at the Turkish Embassy.
