The government of the United States has expressed deep appreciation to The Gambia’s contribution during celebrations marking the United States 250 independence anniversary.
In a letter addressed to The Gambia’s Ambassador to the United States of America, His Excellency Momodou Lamin Bah, on Wednesday July 22, 2026, Ambassador Monica Crowley, the United States Department of State’s Chief of Protocol who serves as President Donald J. Trump’s representative to Freedom 250, said:” I would like to express my deep and sincere gratitude for your very thoughtful participation in the commemoration of America’s Semiquincentennial.”
She added, “The Gambia’s contribution to Freedom 250 added profound meaning to this special moment in our nation’s history and was an indelible part of our celebration. The Global and Embassy Illuminations stood as stunning tributes, illuminating not only The Gambian Embassy in Washington D.C. and the Arch 22 in Banjul but also the abiding friendship between The Gambia and the United States. It was an incredibly gracious gesture that will be remembered for generations.”
” Celebrations of this magnitude are made truly memorable by the people who choose to share in them. Your engagement – whether through the illumination, attendance at official proceedings, cultural exchanges or the many other ways in which you honoured this occasion – reflects not only diplomatic courtesy but genuine partnership. For that, I am personally grateful.”
“As we reflect on 250 years of American independence, I look forward to the next chapter of robust bilateral engagement. Please accept my warmest thanks and highest regards.”
