A high-powered delegation from Assemblies of God Ghana has arrived in The Gambia in an Apostolic Visit to commune and fellowship with pastors in The Gambia.

The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana, head of a four-man delegation, said on Monday upon arrival at the Yundum International Airport that “The Gambia will never be the same after this visit”.

Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, who will be taken on a conducted tour cross the country, further said The Gambia is very dear to them having one of their first mission churches: Assemblies of GodThe Gambia.

“The Gambia is our first indigenous mission field,” he stated. “We are here to strengthen the hands of our missionary, Reverend Paul, and the team. And then see how we can collaborate further and push the work ahead.”

The two-day Apostolic Visit (Wed & Thursday: 5-6 Aug. 2026) will include a pastors conference of churches in The Gambia.

“So, we are coming to pour ourselves into the pastors in The Gambia.  It's going to be very powerful. We'll not only touch on just church administration. We're going to look at other areas, because the church is not only a spiritual organism;it's also the social component - the corporate governance component,” he explained, saying: “We brought the blessings of God to The Gambia. And we know that The Gambia will never be the same after this visit.”

Rev. Wengam is widely respected across Ghana and other parts of the world for his truth about God’s word, so it is an opportunity and blessings to have him in The Gambia.

“He is a gift of God for our generation. Anybody who encounters him, encounters a servant of God.He speaks the truth about God's word with courage, with clarity and with much respect,” says Rev. Paul Appietu Ampofo-Williams, National Head and Senior Pastor of Assemblies of God The Gambia.

He added: “His heart is full of love and compassion. And this is what God has sent him to The Gambia to do - to impact this nation. Therefore, Gambia will never be the same after this visit.”

Rev. Wengam is the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana and Founding Pastor of Cedar Mountain Chapel, Accra. He also serves as Vice President of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance and an Executive Member of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, one of the world's largest Pentecostal movements.

In recognition of his distinguished leadership and national service, the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, recently appointed Rev. Wengam as Board Chair of the Ghana Immigration Service. He previously served as Chairman of the Ghana Prisons Service Council, where he championed significant institutional reforms.
