Trust Bank Gambia Limited has presented a cheque for $10,000 to the SOS Children’s Village at Bakoteh to support the services SOS is rendering to underprivileged children in The Gambia.

The money was geared towards the maintenance of one of the family houses in the village that has been adopted by the bank.

Speaking at a ceremony held at the Village in Bakoteh, SOS Children’s Village National Director Jean-Pierre Kouamin thanked Trust Bank for the life-changing gesture in supporting underprivileged people.

He added they were looking forward to having more partners to what they have been doing in the country.

He said they have different programs in the Greater Banjul Area and across the nation, called “family strengthening program”, to assist people and preventing family separations in communities.

In her remarks, Trust Bank’s Managing Director, Njilan Senghore said the occasion marked a significant milestone in their efforts to give back to society by making difference in the lives of those who need their support most.

The occasion she said, came prior to their fruitful collaboration with SOS, which culminated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the adoption and sponsorship of one of the family houses in Bakoteh, now called “Trust Bank House”.

“It was a decision made easy because through evidence of our own eyes, we saw happy, loved and well-adjusted children livingwithin a family set up that could be a secure [home] of envy for many other people living even within their own families,” she said.

“We know that a safe and secure home is essential for the physical, emotional, and mental health of every child, and Trust Bank could not be prouder to be associated with this initiative.”

Highlighting the challenges of being underprivileged, MD Senghore empathised with the children at SOS: “While many of us grew up in loving families, orphans yearn to find that family to call their own. It is our fervent belief that this sponsorship deal we are launching today will have far-reaching positive consequences on the lives of many orphans and resonate with our corporate social responsibility objective of bringing hope where there is despair.”

Referring to the SOS Family House Trust Bank has supported, she said: “This house represents hope for the future. It is a symbol of our commitment to the well-being of these children and our dedication to building a better country for all.”
