The General Transport Union (GTU) wishes to remind all road users, especially drivers, to observe traffic rules and regulations during the Eid festivities.

The Executive Committee of the GTU emphasises the importance of maintaining vehicles to road-worthy standards. Drivers and vehicle owners should ensure their vehicles are in optimal condition.

Road users are advised to adhere to traffic signals and road signs. Drivers are particularly cautioned to avoid over-speeding, as it is a leading cause of fatal accidents.

Parents are urged to be vigilant and exercise due diligence in supervising their children during the Eid celebrations. This precaution will help prevent road accidents involving children.

It is well-known that the incidence of accidents increases during festive periods. Therefore, we remind our members and all road users of their responsibility to protect lives; the life you save may be your own.

Drivers are urged to thoroughly check their vehicle brakes, lights, backlights, signals, headlamps, and windshields.

Truck drivers are advised to safely park their vehicles off the road in the event of a breakdown to prevent accidents involving other road users.

We remind all drivers of the importance of using triangular reflectors in the event of a breakdown. Reflectors should be placed at a reasonable distance to warn incoming vehicles and avoid accidents. Drivers are strictly cautioned against using stones, logs, branches, or grasses as warnings, as these can cause serious accidents.

Road safety is everyone's responsibility. We ask for the public's cooperation and understanding in ensuring safety during the festive period.

Wishing everyone a happy and blessed Eidul-Adha Mubarak.
