Sonko inducts Bassirou Diomaye Faye as Plan B

Ousmane Sonko has inducted Bassirou Diomaye Faye as an alternative to replace him as presidential candidate, according Seneweb.
Despite being dissolved, the Pastef party is determined to go to the presidential election in February 2024, in the face of legal troubles of its leader, Ousmane Sonko.

Through a declaration read on Sunday evening in Jotna TV, the mayor of Ziguinchor chose the administrator of the ex-Pastef, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, as his candidate for these elections.

“The candidates for the presidency, namely Birame Souleye Diop and Guy Marius Sagna, have agreed, after consultation with Ousmane Sonko, to sponsor the candidate Bassirou Diomaye Faye,” declared Sadikh Top, who read the note.

He informs that the collection will begin this Monday, November 20 throughout the national territory and in the diaspora.

According to him, parliamentarians Sagna and Diop will make an official statement through a press briefing.

As a reminder, Bassirou Diomaye Faye has been indicted and placed under arrest warrant, since mid-April 2023, for "counts of contempt of court, defamation and acts likely to compromise public peace."
